Sub: Water Quality monitoring and silt load modelling studies on Bhadra river at Kudremukh

1.0 Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited, a Government of India Organization is engaged in iron ore mining and beneficiation at Kudremukh, Chickmagalur district. Tailings generated are deposited in Lakya dam (earthen dam).

2.0 You have been selected as one of the consultant for issue of limited tender enquiries for conducting monitoring of Bhadra river water quality and study on silt load on Bhadra river.

3.0 The scope of work is as under:

i) Monitoring of water quality of Bhadra river during monsoon and post monsoon period, rainfall measurement, river water discharge etc. The duration of the study shall be for 7 months i.e. from 01.06.2005 to 31.12.2005.

ii) The details of the study is as per schedule of items enclosed at Annexure A & B.

iii) River gauging and the frequency at the following stations shall be as under

•  Bhadra Upstream

•  Bhadra Downstream

Frequency

a) River discharge measurements shall be done once in a day

b) Daily measurements from 01.06.2005 to 30.09.2005

c) Weekly measurements from 01.10.2005 to 3.12.2005

iv) Water monitoring shall be carried out at the following stations.

•  Bhadra upstream

•  Kochige Holey

•  Lakya dam inlet /overflow

•  Pollution Control Dam I

•  Pollution Control Dam II

•  Bhadra Upstream

Frequency

•  One sample at each station in a day

•  Daily collection from 01.06.2005 to 30.09.2005 (4 parameters)

•  Weekly sample collection from 01.10.2005 to 31.12.2005 (4 parameters)

d) Fortnightly sample collection from 01.06.2005 to 31.12.2005

v) The parameters to be monitored are as under:

•  Total Coliform

•  Nitrates

•  Fluorides

•  Phosphates

•  Total dissolved solids

4.0 The special conditions of the job is as follows:

i) Laboratory site, water & power for laboratory operations for conducting the water analysis shall be provided free of cost. Laboratory to be set up by bidder at his cost.

ii) Suitable accommodation in two B type single type quarter for the stay of consultant's personnel shall be provided free of cost.

iii) Rainfall data, staff gauge at gauging stations shall be arranged by KIOCL.

iv) Transport for the movement of equipments and personnel shall be in the scope of bidder.

v) Sampling procedures must be strictly adhered to the guidelines mentioned in Standards, Methods and Procedures of water and waste water analysis published by APHA & AWWA.

vi) Reports shall be submitted in hard and soft copies.

vii) Payment terms shall be as under:

a) 25% of the contract value shall be paid after the visit on field data collection required for starting the job, submission of inception report after award of the contract.

b) 50% of the contract value shall be paid against submission of interim report after the monsoon season

c) Balance 25% shall be paid against submission of final report

5.0 Sealed bids shall be submitted in the manner as mentioned below:

a) First sealed envelope superscribed as 'UNPRICED - " Water Quality monitoring and silt load MODELING studies on Bhadra river AT KUDREMUKH" This envelope shall contain full set of all the above tender document at 3.0 above including all annexure duly filled-in and signed with official seal on all pages but without any mention of rates and prices.

b) Second sealed envelope superscribed as 'PRICED - Water Quality monitoring and silt load moDELING studies on Bhadra river AT KUDREMUKH" containing prices filled in strictly as per format 3 (ii) above i.e. Schedule of Items,

Sealed bids will be submitted on or before 2nd May 2005 (upto 17.00 hours) at the office of the Addl. General Manager (Technical Services), Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited, Sarjapur Road, Koramangala, Bangalore - 560 034. Further to the submission of the offer, unpriced techno-commercial offers will be opened for scrutiny and on ascertaining technical suitability, price bids will be opened in the presence of bidders on a date to be intimated to the bidders in due course.

6.0 Award of work shall be intimated to the successful bidder through a letter / fax which will be treated as authorization to mobilize and commence the work.

7.0 The bid shall be valid for period of "three months" from the due date of receipt of the bid.

8.0 KIOCL reserves the right to reject any or all bids without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
